Eli Penberthy, Campaign Coordinator
Eli has a broad range of experience researching, writing,
teaching, and advocating on behalf of sustainable food systems, including
developing farm-to-school programs, cooking at Chez Panisse, and teaching
culinary lessons at farmers' markets. She recently completed a fellowship in Spokane, Wash.,
where she founded a community organization and directed a successful consumer
awareness campaign in support of local food and agriculture. Her undergraduate
thesis at Pomona College dealt with food as a
socio-political issue which can be an impetus both for creating social change
and building communities. In addition to coordinating MAP’s new Seattle-based shrimp consumer awareness campaign, Eli also works as a tutor and private
chef. She lives in Seattle, Wash.,
where she loves the rainy coast and the year-round farmers' markets.
