Naucrates, an Italian NGO, has been running scientific research and conservation projects on sea turtles, mangroves, coral reefs, and sea grasses at Phra Thong island since 1996. Naucrates started a mangrove restoration project following the 2004 tsunami at Phra Thong Island. They are alsoundertaking an environmental education program for children on the island.

Participatory Management of Coastal Resources of Cambodia - PMCR (Cambodia)
PMCR is a project that started in 1997 under the Ministry of the Environment with support from IDRC. PMCR is the leading project in Cambodia on Community Based Natural Resource Management with many publications on their experience in Peam Krasop Wildlife Sanctuary, Koh Kong Province. An on-going project is Mangrove Restoration with local fishing communities in degraded mangrove areas caused by charcoal production.

They built and currently operate Community Coastal Resource Centre at the village of Gupti on the boundary of the word famous and biodiverse reserve, Bhitarakanika Wildlife Sanctuary, in Orissa.
